ATA Gears expands production facilities in Linnainmaa, Tampere

Metal industry company ATA Gears is making a significant investment in the development of its production operations in Linnainmaa, Tampere. Construction company Lapti has begun expansion works at the factory property on Hautalankatu, owned by real estate company Kielo. With the new premises, ATA Gears will expand its production and relocate its headquarters from Atala to Linnainmaa starting in early 2027.

The new extension will provide much-needed additional space and modern facilities for production and office operations. ATA Gears, which designs and manufactures gears and other power transmission components, will invest a total of €17 million in machinery and equipment as part of the expansion.

A roughly 4,100 m² extension will be built in connection with the existing factory building on Hautalankatu. Upon completion of the extension, the total gross floor area of the Linnainmaa factory will be approximately 12,700 m².

– We will be able to increase automation in production and streamline material flows thanks to the expansion. The new machining centres included in the project will enable us to modernise production and increase overall capacity. At the same time, we will gain modern office facilities, says Petri Rantamaa, CEO of ATA Gears.

The existing factory will remain fully operational throughout the construction period. The extension will be owned by Kielo and is scheduled for completion in early 2027.

– We are pleased to further strengthen our long-term partnership with ATA Gears. The expansion is a natural continuation of the development of the Hautalankatu property and a great example of how we support our customers’ growth with flexible and functional space solutions, says Hanna Forsman, CEO of Kielo.

The project is being designed and constructed by construction company Lapti.

It is an honour for us to bring our expertise in industrial construction to ATA Gears and to deliver modern facilities that support the company’s growth. The work will take place directly alongside an operational factory. During construction, we will place special emphasis on ensuring that operations on both the factory side and the construction site proceed safely and as planned, says Tuomo Turkkinen, Regional Director at Lapti.

ARQ Architects is responsible for the architectural and main design of the project. Intecon acts as the project management consultant, A-Insinöörit is responsible for structural and acoustic design, and Veloce Consulting for HVAC and building services engineering.
