Reformer Pilates arrives in Central Finland – Versatile training studio opens in Jyväskylä’s Innova 2

A new movement and wellness studio opened in December 2025 in Kielo’s Innova 2 property on the shores of Lake Jyväsjärvi. Valmennusstudio Vire offers Jyväskylä residents a place where overall wellbeing can be supported under one roof. The idea for the studio grew from the founders’ passion for reformer pilates — a form of training that had previously not been available anywhere in Central Finland.
“My business partner and I had long envisioned a training centre that approaches wellbeing holistically. We wanted to bring a service concept inspired by elite sports to everyday consumers — one that recognises all the factors that influence a person’s overall load, both physically and mentally,” says Henna Ruusumaa, CEO of Valmennusstudio Vire and the long-running Jyväskylä-based coaching centre LeWELL.
At the core of Vire’s concept is strengthening clients’ functional capacity in everyday life. According to Ruusumaa, this means helping clients become aware of their own energy levels and giving them tools to regulate those levels through movement and breathing. In addition to traditional gym training, the studio offers small group classes including reformer pilates, BodyBow, spiral stabilization and mat pilates. Weekly sessions also feature sound bowl relaxation and yoga.
The studio wouldn’t have opened without Kielo
Ruusumaa explains that although the idea of expanding their business had been on their minds for a while, it only became truly feasible when Kielo reached out. A space was becoming available in Kielo’s Innova 2 property — a building the founders already knew well for its accessibility and ease of use.
The prime location of Kielo’s properties in Jyväskylä’s Lutakko district, combined with the strong potential customer base in the area, played a decisive role in the founders’ choice to open Vire specifically in Innova 2. The property is situated in a vibrant neighbourhood that brings together corporate tenants and a broad range of services and events, including restaurants, grocery stores, hotels and cultural venues.
“The beautiful surroundings made a real impression on us. The premises in Innova 2 support wellbeing exceptionally well, with natural light streaming in from every direction. As entrepreneurs, we didn’t want the typical hall‑like or basement-style gym facilities — Kielo’s premises offered exactly what we were looking for, something entirely different,” Ruusumaa says.
She emphasizes that without Kielo’s initiative, the expansion would not have moved forward this quickly:
“I can say with 99 percent certainty that without Kielo’s call and the availability of space in Innova 2, we wouldn’t be offering Jyväskylä the first reformer pilates studio in Central Finland — nor a new centre dedicated to movement and wellbeing,” Ruusumaa notes.

Functionality and visual appeal at the heart of the renovation
To ensure the premises would fully support the needs of the training studio, a number of modifications were made. The most significant upgrades were technical: the lighting was replaced with energy‑efficient LED fixtures, and entirely new shower and changing facilities were built, as the premises did not previously include them. As the incoming tenant, Vire had the opportunity to influence the outcome — especially the visual identity of the studio.
“The renovation progressed well, and the extensive work was completed on schedule. There was a considerable amount of demolition, as the premises had earlier consisted of rows of small office rooms. We were given complete freedom to design the area together with the architects and designers — from colours and surface materials to the smallest details — and with Kielo’s support, our vision became reality. It was important to me that the studio would not only function well but also look and feel inviting. Our colourful walls, for example, have received a lot of positive feedback from clients,” Ruusumaa says.
“We’ve succeeded in creating a warm and welcoming environment that supports our clients’ wellbeing. Our lobby, for instance, features a green wall — something you don’t often encounter in a typical gym. In addition to our own facilities, I appreciate that Innova 2 as a whole feels refined and pleasant, with a well‑functioning reception service,” she adds.
Looking ahead to 2026, Ruusumaa hopes more people will discover this new kind of training premises — one that takes a holistic view of wellbeing and energy balance.
“We want to be a premium studio for our clients, and the location at Innova supports that perfectly — both in terms of the property itself and its surroundings,” Ruusumaa concludes.
