Energy efficiency and emission reduction

In Kielo’s sustainability strategy, energy efficiency and emission reduction go hand in hand with property development. Kielo always strives to minimize the environmental impact of its owned properties and spaces. Work is carried out at different stages of the lifecycle.

When a property is under Kielo’s management, sustainable development perspectives that affect the carbon footprint are always considered in its development. These include energy efficiency, waste reduction and management, responsible material choices, and environmental safety, such as preventing environmental damage.

Kielo’s sustainability goals are integrated into the application and decision-making process for property development projects. Every project application is linked to these goals. When a project includes an investment to achieve a sustainability goal, its climate impact is assessed in relation to the benefits of the investment. For example, the CO₂ emissions from replacing a ventilation device are weighed against the energy savings and emission reductions achieved by the replacement.

Low-emission energy, consumption optimization, and correct product choices reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, and extend the building’s lifecycle. Through renovations, buildings also serve their users better and provide healthier spaces for them.

Through energy projects, Kielo aims to reduce energy consumption, the need for purchased energy, and the property’s repair debt. The goal of energy projects is to reduce environmental impact as rationally and profitably as possible. Improvements are achieved, for example, by renewing outdated parts or utilizing waste heat in property heating.

The goal is to increase the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar energy. Kielo implements a wide range of projects, which may include the development and modernization of heating, ventilation, lighting, and other building systems.
