Kielo is renewing Kauppakaari in Kerava – Synsam joins the modern transformation

Synsam becomes Kielo’s tenant

Kauppakaari, located on Kerava’s pedestrian street, is undergoing a complete renovation. The renovation work, which began in February 2024, will be completed by summer 2025. The renewed Kauppakaari will offer companies a modern and bright vantage point in the center of Kerava.

Synsam, founded in 1968, is the leading optical retail chain in the Nordics. The company has approximately 500 stores, 67 of which operate in Finland. Synsam has rapidly grown into a nationwide chain and has a particularly strong presence in major cities such as the Helsinki metropolitan area, Tampere, Turku, and Oulu.

“In the last three years, we have opened 37 new stores,” says Vesa Mars, CEO of Synsam Finland.

“We stand out from other optical chains primarily with our diverse and extensive frame selection and the Lifestyle rental model. Renting glasses is the smartest way for consumers to acquire glasses, and the rental business already accounts for more than half of Synsam’s revenue,” says Mars. 

Central location and visible premises

According to Mars, Synsam wants to be present in all major cities, and having a presence in Kerava, with nearly 40,000 residents, is a natural part of this plan.

The most important factors for Synsam in choosing premises were location, good visibility on the pedestrian street, and the attractiveness and suitability of the retail space for their operations. Kielo’s Kauppakaari 15 perfectly met Synsam’s needs.

“We wanted a store in the center of Kerava, in a central location close to consumer flows and with good connections. The renovation of Kauppakaari came at just the right time for us, and the location, visibility, and premises we received fit our plans perfectly. The new premises offer our customers a comfortable and modern environment where they can receive the best possible service and expertise,” says Mars.

Kielo provides retail premises for growth and commerce, and it is important for Kielo that the premises meet the tenants’ wishes. According to Mars, the cooperation with Kielo has been excellent.

“The cooperation has been easy, smooth, and straightforward in every way. Professionals at work on both sides!” he praises.

Aim for leadership

The new store in Kerava will bring Synsam’s latest concept, which includes all the services and products that the company offers. Synsam aims to become the leading optical store in Kerava as well. The business goals are supported by modern and functional premises.

“We aim to become the leading optical store in the city of Kerava, and the store, product and service selection, and staff will be tuned accordingly to serve the residents of Kerava,” says Mars.

“There is no longer a need to go to Helsinki or elsewhere in the Helsinki metropolitan area for an optical store.”
