Functional premises support community and learning.

A new tenant, Ammattiopisto Luovi, has moved into the Kielo property located in the center of Pori. Luovi is a vocational special education institution that provides education for students requiring demanding special support. The school brings new vitality to the former Satakunnan Kansa newspaper’s printing and office building.

The Satakansa property at Valtakatu 12, Pori was completed in 1949. Originally, the building served as the printing and office premises for Satakunnan Kansa, with the editorial staff occupying the space for up to 97 years. Between 2011 and 2015, the building underwent a complete renovation. Today, Satakansa offers modern, well-maintained, and environmentally friendly business premises in the heart of the city.

Ammattiopisto Luovi, which has moved into the Valtakatu premises, provides basic vocational training in cleaning and property services, preparatory education for work and independent living and for qualification studies in Pori. Training leading to a basic business qualification will also begin next fall.

Central location supports learning and collaboration with workplaces

Luovi has rented the third floor of the property, about 1,055 m² of space, which was renovated to meet the needs of a special education institution. Currently, around 100 students study in the Pori premises, and about 30 staff members work there. Satakansa offers Luovi’s students a central location on the busy Valtakatu, just a block from Pori’s market square.

“Valtakatu was chosen for Luovi’s premises because the location is central and close to workplaces. The city center location opens up new opportunities for cooperation with workplaces and makes teaching visits easier – learning is naturally connected to the surrounding society,” says Luovi’s Director of Education, Ari-Pekka Anttila

The move of Ammattiopisto Luovi to Valtakatu not only brings new life to the property but also enhances the region’s educational offering and supports the education of students requiring special support.

“We are very pleased to have such a meaningful and respected operator as Luovi as our tenant. Their activities are socially important, and we are committed to providing facilities that best support students’ vocational education for years to come. The new agreement demonstrates that there is demand for high-quality premises and a good location. We look forward to the cooperation,” says Kielo’s Asset Manager, Janne Rauhala

Flexible and accessible premises strengthen community

The renovation improved the usability and adaptability of the premises to meet the needs of the special education institution. The renewed facilities for the school enable Luovi’s students to have a safe and functional learning environment that supports their education and independence.

“The Valtakatu premises are adaptable and accessible and already had solutions that supported our activities. Staff and students have found a new way to study and work in the unified premises: learning has become visible, and the sense of community has strengthened. The new premises support the core of special pedagogy: working together, interaction, and the participation of every learner,” Anttila continues.
